My restaurant marketing ideas can get a little crazy. There was a quote I heard long ago:
"The greater the idea, the more resistance it will receive" unknown
This quote is a reminder not to give up. It has proven itself to be true again and again - and sales have doubled many times.
What's the point?
Pursue ideas. Maintain the will, gain the skill, collaborate, cooperate.
Ideas are a starting point... but does not ensure success. Leadership, preparation, execution and follow through is the key to success.
To that end, how about another IDEA?
The Dollar Store and Mystery Monday.
Pick a day. Any day. We will pick Monday for convenience.
Purchase 50 "things" at your local dollar store. ($1 each)
On Monday, every person who comes to your business and buys ____________, receives a free gift. A mystery gift. Every Monday.
The gift has to be something interesting. Not just a thing. There are many curious and interesting things at a Dollar Store.
If you have a delivery business, as you deliver the product, pull out the Mystery Gift. Explain that every Monday is Mystery Monday. Anyone who orders for delivery receives a mystery gift. (always something new... a mystery so we never know) It is unexpected. It is unbelievable. It is a gift. After the transaction is complete, people will talk.
What is that you have?
The response might be;
John's Business Name just handed it to me. It is a gift.
There will be a conversation. Your business creates a fun and memorable event.
Do it week after week on the same day.
Do it for a specific order, food, dollar amount purchase. You pick.
There are many options to acquire fun things. www.dollardays.com is another example.
Caution: Stay away from the cheap, dreary items!
Someone near and dear to me gets her oil changed at the same place every time. When she leaves, she always has a flower on her dash. (She says everyone gets one. I better confirm this) :)
The point is... have an idea, do something fun, don't worry about what others might say.
You will get heads turning and make people smile. (and they will talk about your business... which keeps you top of mind)
Frankly...
If you don't like my idea, that probably means it's a great one! :)
If you are lacking ideas and need some help, maybe this video will help you.
(though you might think it is a little crazy)
